Synopsis
A FILM ABOUT THE WORLD OF FISHING, HANGING BETWEEN DECADENCE AND HOPE
Entirely written starting from research materials, The Interview at Sea is at the same time a documentary and a fictional film.
On the screen, the images of the observation of the fishing work collected aboard Italian fishing boats alternate with those staged in a stylized space where a fisherman, interviewed during a night fishing trip, tells his story. At the centre of the whole narrative is the world of fishing, hanging between a seemingly relentless fate of decadence and the possibility that there is still a future. At stake lies not only the survival of an economic and occupational sector, but above all the very existence of an inestimable collective cultural heritage.
The film is an explicit invitation to act within the unlikely as a premise for building a future that is never determined a priori.
