The Interview at Sea in piazza San Cosimato, Trastevere

Exactly one month after the screening at Cinema Odeon in Bologna (article here), and following the special screenings in Venice and Syracuse (recap articles here and here), the tour of special screenings continues. This is yet another truly exceptional event. The setting is the beautiful Piazza San Cosimato in Trastevere, where every year thousands of spectators gather for a month and a half (from June to mid-July) to enjoy a lineup of classic and recent films.

Cinema in Piazza is without doubt the most important summer film series in Rome, and arguably in all of Italy. Now in its eleventh edition, the large-scale event is organized by the Fondazione Il Piccolo America, which carries on the legacy and cultural activism rooted in the history of the iconic Cinema America (more about it here). This year, it runs from June 1st to July 13th, with daily screenings held simultaneously in four different locations across the city: Monte Ciocci Park, Cervelletta Park, Cinema Troisi, and—its most prestigious and historic venue—Piazza San Cosimato in Trastevere (full program here).

As with all events, the screening of The Interview at Sea will begin at 9:15 PM on Thursday, July 3rd. The program includes an introduction to the film with director Ludovico Ferro, lead actor Marco Manfredi, and Onofrio Rota, General Secretary of Fai Cisl.

As always, admission is free and open to all. We are truly happy and proud that The Interview at Sea will now reach yet another type of audience. Cinema in Piazza is especially popular among young people—particularly students—as well as a broad, general audience.

We therefore remain fully aligned with the core goals of the film, which aims not only to speak to professionals and institutions, but also to the wider public—shedding light on the challenges faced by fishing workers and enterprises, and fostering an open conversation about environmental, social, and economic sustainability in a sector that, even before its economic impact, holds an invaluable cultural significance.

We hope to see many of you there!

The summer tour of special screenings for The Interview at Sea will continue with a new date in early August. We’ll announce all the details very soon!
