The festivals are also starting again. The next stop is Spain with the 37th edition of the Catalan festival.

While we’ve been in the midst of the distribution phase of special screenings since last spring (here are articles on the screenings in Bologna, Rome, and Cavallino Treporti), autumn, after the exciting special screening in Gallipoli, Puglia, surprises us with the resumption of the final phase of festival distribution. This time we’re landing in Spain, a destination we’ve been missing and one we hold dear. It’s no coincidence that the film is available with Spanish subtitles as well as English.

This latest selection (we’ve stopped counting, but we’re certainly over 15 festivals!) fills us with satisfaction. The Catalan festival is among the longest-running and most important international festivals dedicated to independent cinema. It also falls within the category of events that pays due attention to exchange and interaction between filmmakers and between them and the audience (this article offers a reflection on the different types of festivals we’ve participated in and the different ways to connect with viewers).
Although now in its 37th edition, the Girona Film Festival has managed to innovate and defines itself as a hybrid festival, a term that is dear to us (L’intervista at Mare is truly a hybrid film, combining documentary and fiction). This festival is designed to be experienced both in person with screenings and panels (see the program here on the website), and online with streaming events and the opportunity to see the selected films online, as well as the award-winning films from previous editions (here’s the link to the platform).
The festival will take place in Girona from 4 to 8 November 2025 and during these days the film will also be visible online (look for it with the international title The Interview at Sea (see the film profile here).

Autumn, as we were saying, surprised us and once again put us in a somewhat hectic situation. Obviously, we won’t be able to tell you about the screenings of the past few months right now. We had already decided to do so, given last year’s experience, but now there are still other important announcements regarding the festival front, especially regarding special screenings. In the coming days, we will finally be able to announce a further selection and the first special screening outside of Italy.
We’ll be back very soon here in the news and on social media, particularly on the film’s Facebook page.
